My name is LaShonda M. Tenner, and I am honored to serve as Queen Nefertiti VI of the Krewe of Nefertiti in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Krewe of Nefertiti is an all-female Mardi Gras organization rooted in service, cultural pride, and community uplift centering families, mentorship, and meaningful engagement.

During my reign, I will lead and support a series of targeted community initiatives designed to directly benefit families across New Orleans East, including:

• Toy Drives providing gifts and essentials for children in need
• Community Food Drives supporting households facing food insecurity
• Holiday Family Sponsorships offering assistance, essentials, and joy during the season
• Prom Dress Collection & Distribution ensuring students can attend prom with confidence 
• Workforce Readiness Support including résumé development and mock interview coaching for local youth and adults in partnership with local schools and workforce programs 

 

These initiatives reflect my commitment to Legacy, Service, and Sisterhood: empowering families, celebrating culture, and building stronger community connections.
